Life Stories

At Recollections – A Portrait of a Life, we help our clients preserve life stories for now and for the future. We interview our clients, audiotape the interviews, and then transform those interviews into a narrative of that unique life story. We add family history, genealogy information , and family photos to create an heirloom quality hardbound book for our clients and their families to enjoy for generations to come.

If a client is on a limited budget, our skilled interviewers can focus on a specific part of a person’s life (such as what it was like growing up with your nine siblings in small town Texas during the 1930s) and present the audio taped interview in a lovely gift box. We can also offer word-for-word transcription of the interviews if the client so desires.

As an Associate of The Legacy Center, we often weave our clients’ life lessons and advice for their families into their life stories. We can also, however, help our clients compose thoughtful legacy letters to their family.

Additionally, we present talks and classes about writing personal histories and can assist individuals write their own life story, if they prefer.

Prices range from several hundred to several thousand dollars, depending on the length and scope of the life story project. We often work with situations where adult children pay for their parents’ stories to be documented.
